To the OP and others with jail time, what did y'all do to get locked up? I'm just having a hard time picturing LetsRunners as real "criminals," so I'm assuming it was something like drunk driving or drugs?
Burglary Tools - Felony. Dropped.
Tampering With Witnesses. Reduced to contempt of court.
State and Federal Racketeering charges. 2012. 2 years. Sussex Prison.
You can still race D3 with a record, just no scholarship.

I was not suggesting that it's enjoyable; I was saying, based on a tiny sentence I've served, that it's boring and a waste of taxpayer money. There's got to be a better way of dealing with criminal offenders than "warehousing" them and/or making them cough up large sums of money. Or maybe the government isn't interested in actually solving problems? ;)
You can't even have a normal life and the government is supposed to manage your criminal life? GTFO.
There is an ex-con who has opened a workout studio in NYC based on his prison routine.

I did a little time in the clink, so I've got an alright idea of how this stuff goes down. You get a decent amount of time in the yard, some guys run a good amount. I usually just walked around the yard, but that's cuz I had other things on my mind. I got most of my excercise in my room. Worked out my arms a lot, stayed up late most nights working out. There's some manual labor too that helps you stay fit. You might fix the roof of a license plate factory, or maybe build some shelves, and maybe even do some contracting work on the outside.
I know this sounds weird, but I'd say the biggest thing that kept me going was a pin up poster I'd keep on my wall. Having a fantasy girlie up there can save you big time.
Anyway, hope this helped. And I hope you do alright once you get out. I moved to Mexico- it was a good way to start over.
Depending on when you go in, you may want to learn some basic fighting/self-defense skills. I know I wouldn't want to go to jail defenseless.

Gotta do 30 days in jail. No argument about it.
What can I do to stay in shape in that 30 days? Right now I plan to pack mileage and hard workouts into 2 weeks before then recover week 1 in jail. But what can I do the next 23 days? Would essentially running in place and/or plyometrics for 2 hours twice a day be my best hope?
Appreciate any insight from anyone with knowledge or people stuck in a hotel room equivalent.
Get your cell mate to sit on your back while you do pushups.
Also if their are bars on the ceilings, you can do either chin ups or secure both feet and arms to the ceiling and pull your chest to the ceiling so you get the same effect as using a rowing machine.
You can also get your cell mate to sit on your shoulders the do squats and lunges.
Or you and you cell mate can sit down facing each other with each others bottoms of feet against each other, the both of you lean forward grabbing each others wrists for a strong grip, then you take turns pulling as in a rowing motion. This will work your back and biceps. Shoulders etc...
You can also put you feet on your jail bed and the do incline/decline pushups. If you do several of these exercises without takung much of a break you can work your cardio vascular system. If however the prison guards put you in the "HOLE" for 30 days without food a bed or washroom then you may be SOL.
Want to mention that a lot of pro athletes will take 2 months off during the year and are able to get back to form. So 30 days shouldnt be too bad
Once you get there try digging a tunnel underground so you can escape.
Any of you jail dwellers get your salads tossed?

What are all the crimes everyone has done to warrant these sentences? I'm so curious now.
This is America , so they probably smoked a joint, peed in public, overpaid/underpaid their income tax or something of that nature.
Day 1.
Walk up and punch the biggest MFer in the joint, that way people don't mess with you. In fact they might respect you.

You will never serve the full 30 days. Depending where you are, you could get out very early, but think more like 3 weeks only. You can take three weeks off without losing much fitness at all.
You should spend the time thinking about what kind of idiot ends up with a 30 day jail sentence and then making sure it never happens again. You're in the same league with Jamin now, that's just shameful.

When in the Army got into a fight with another soldier and got arrested by police and brought back - then went AWOL and got arrested again.
Been arrested for a few minor things but no prison before now. Up now for GBH and will definitely be getting prison for that
maybe three weeks wrote:

Same over here. You normally only do 50% of the sentence (with good behaviour) and then you get to do the other 50% on license (parole).
In army jail we got 25% remission so got sentenced to 4 months and served 3 months

What an ignorant and shallow comment. Easy to criticize others for something you've never done yourself, isn't it? Grow up. I guarantee you've done some illegal and bad things and are no saint. Help others instead of bringing them down. Anyone can end up in the wrong place/wrong time. Being in a good situation from childhood helps things immensely. Don't take that for granted. And good decisions certainly help things. Stay away from troublesome people and bad areas too, as anyone, yes anyone can become police bait in these situations. I've never been to jail, but I'd assume it's not as easy as the movies portray it with regards to staying in shape. Best of luck with your jail workouts.
1x4 drop the soap and pick it up again.
