We are working on our weekly recap - the Week That Was. One of the sections we are working on is the huge number of foreign-born runners that won conference xc crowns last weekend.
One thing that caught our eye is the fact that Boise State's Yusuke Uchikoshi, who won the Mountain West title last weekend, is from Japan.
Historians, do you know of any other Japanese runners thave have competed at a high level in NCAA track and field/XC? We can't think of any.
Yusuke Uchikoshi is a talent. He ran 13:59 before coming to Boise State for track last year. In track for Boise, he ran 3:49 and 14:13 for Boise but has found his stride this year.
His father Tadao Uchikoshi was good marathoner. He ran 2:12 and once was second in the Amsterdam marathon in 1991 in 2:13.
