Are you trying to be funny with 27:10?
Geb ran a 26:51.20 10K at Hengelo early in 2008, the same year he ran 2:03:59. We could take about 14 seconds off of that for a Bekele estimate:
>>>>>>>>>>26:37…which is very close to the VDOT estimate of 26:40.
Another way to estimate is to look at the typical slowdown from 10K pace to marathon pace, which for world-class marathon runners is usually around 24 seconds per mile (6 seconds per 400m) to 28 seconds per mile (7 seconds per 400m). Bekele just ran a marathon at just under 70.0 seconds per 400m, which would work out to a 10K between 26:15 (63 sec pace) and 26:40 (64 sec pace)….while Mo Farah has a 10K PR of 26:46.
Very fast 10K speed is required to run a marathon at 4:41.6 per mile.
Sammy Wanjiru had a 10K PR of 26:41 (set in Bekele's world record 26:17 race). Eliud Kipchoge has run a 12:46 5K, WC gold at 5K, Olympic silver at 5K… and Galen Rupp has a 10K PR of 26:44, Olympic silver at 10K…with the potential to run a very fast marathon to go with his Olympic marathon bronze.
In conclusion:
1) Kenenisa Bekele should run the 10K AND marathon at the World Champs to win double gold…again.
2) Tania tiger kitten will have soggy frosted flakes…again.
