Agreed.
I had this realization years ago in my early 20's. Was spending an enormous amount of time and energy (and also neglecting relationships) on training, and maybe getting the occasional win at a local race. Dialed it way back now and just train to stay fit, both physically and mentally. Actually look forward to all my runs now.
