Too bad Ches has won 4 PAC-12 XC championships, something not even Pre did. So no Fisher will not be the next Ches.
Fair point, but I'm talking more about who will inherit Ches' mantle -- as in win these meets -- once he graduates.

This point is stupid lol. Freshman/sophomore ches would lose to junior/senior ches. Just bc a sophomore isnt beating a senior...
Yes, Ches is in a league of his own. But Grant Fisher is really showing major promise as the next best college XC runner.
From those results, Ratcliffe would be my guess to be the next King. Isn't this his first time running cross country ever?

Too bad Ches is 36 and won't develop any more. Forget the NCAA's. Ten years from now, Fisher will have better PR's in every distance than Ches.
Ches may in the near future run 13:05-13:10 in the 5k, but Fisher will break 13:00 in a few years.

I love how people have been saying this since ches's junior year of high school.

..and they are right. For example, Jenkins and Cheserek used to be very close in times, finishing neck and neck. Last year, it was no contest as Jenkins beat Cheserek by a huge margin at the Armory 3000. That's a good example of someone continuing to develop and someone that has reached a limit. Also, Jekins has gone on to run 13:07 5k, and Cheserek?
I hear crickets....
Even going by Ches's supposed age he should over three years older than grant and it's probably even more anyway

This was posted about Legat back in the day too. By letsrun standards a 52 year old Legat had a great year in 2016.
Ratcliffe is definitely on track to be one of the best ones, too, if he continues on this trajectory and considering he didn't run XC in high school. But have always been impressed by Fisher and his low-key let-the-running-do-the-talking manner. He's got years of improvement ahead of him.

Lagat is doper and everyone knows it. Besides, by Chesereks age didnt Lagat already run 3:29 in the 1500? There is no comparison.
Ches isn't even American.
Ches is Kenyan. Fisher is good, but is an American whitey.
Lukas V was a better runner in high school than Ches.

The thread title questions whether or not Fisher could be the next Cheserek. The point you are quoting indicates VERY clearly that he can't.
Cheserek beat Kennedy Kithuka and Lawi Lalang as a freshman. That is, he beat both of the previous NCAA champions, and won multiple NCAA titles his freshman year. In contrast, Fisher won zero.
Cheserek is special not because he's dominant, but because he outclassed nearly all of his competition from his very first season as a collegiate. Fisher failed to do that already, so he has already failed the qualifications to be "the next Cheserek".

Ches being closer to 30 years of age than 20 is one of the main reasons he's a tough act for anyone to follow.

No it wasnt. Lagat didn't dominate anyone in college.
You are absolutely correct, Fisher did not outclass everyone his freshman year like Chezerek did. Maybe the fact that Fisher was 18 years old his freshman cross country season and indoor track season (which he redshirted) had something to do with that. When was the last time an eighteen year old male US distance runner dominate the NCAA ranks?
Kenyan freshman seem to be able to. Perhaps they have an unfair advantage?
Chezerek's age has been questioned for years. Not by a few disgruntled individuals but by many who take this sport seriously.
His age discrepancy enabled him to win and set records through high school and college robbing those that were/are of legitimate age.
Stop being a fool. Africans, in many sports, age cheat. Those that are fortunate to come to the USA for school make up for a variety of things by having their birth certificates falsified.
