Is it possible that Justyn Knight could go after Ches at NCAA's and possibly take him down? Even if Knight cannot beat Ches he could give him a solid race and make Ches run hard for the first time in his life.

Nah!
only way i see this being interesting is if cheserek leaves it to the last 800 meters of less off a modest pace. knight has been closing extremely well all year, but i think if the pace gets pushed like it did last year, no one has the stamina to keep up with cheserek, especially if he pushes 1-2 miles out.

Yup, Ches is looking like he's past his physical prime and if Syracuse can make the Final Four as a #10 seed, Justyn Knight can take down Ches.
Judging by the Oregon men's performance, they are nowhere near their peaks for this cycle. Expect something special from Ches come ncaas.

Lol nah bruh. If anyones giving him a race its Pat Tiernan like last year. Knight won't touch Tiernan either.

I think Knight will beat Tiernan this year but there's no shot that he will touch the King. Once the King starts throwing down 4:30 miles, no one will even be remotely close to him to even attempt to out kick him.
Do not forget Nationals is in Terre Haute this year, and that does not sweet to any of these two contenders you mention above. I will not be suprise if they did not end up on the top 5. they have speed but in Terre Haute that does not matter much, unless the race is very slow.
If Cheserek throws down 3K from the finish like he did today at Pac-12's the answer is No.
If Cheserek leaves it to the last 800M the answer is No.
I still believe a good day for Knight will be top 5. Big difference between top 5 and fighting for the win.
Barring injury, sickness, a fall or something else crazy no one is touching Ches... Just the way it is
Knight ran a solid time today, and he can kick, are you guys forgetting what he threw down at nuttycombe?
Not forgetting. Just not recognizing it as a performance that Cheserek could not outdo. It was a good race, but if he thinks he is going to come back from 20 meters down on Ches in the last quarter mile at NCAA's he should start reconsidering his strategy now.
Yes, Knight can and will take down Cheserek.
Terre Haute course is a vanilla TV friendly venue.
Knight is ready.

That's completely irrelevant.
Barring Cheserek getting injured, he won't lose. This isn't a short track race where tactics can actually make a difference. Without exception, Cheserek has more strength and endurance than any runner in the NCAA. There is a VERY small handful who could potentially have better kicks, but they're all mid-distance specialists who are largely neutralized by the XC distance.
I don't know why people are so stupid and ask "will X beat Cheserek in cross country" day in and day out. The only time Cheserek has ever lost an XC race has been when he didn't take it seriously. With the graduation of Lalang and Kithuka, there isn't a single runner that he even needs 100% of his effort to beat. Justyn Knight could draft off of Cheserek for 8000m and would STILL be left behind when Cheserek wakes up and starts running the race.
You cannot beat a runner who has absolutely superior endurance and finishing speed. You can only wait for them to beat themselves.
+1

Did you watch last year? Knight was 4th and is way better than he was then right now. I think it'll be Tiernan v. Knight for 2nd, and if either of them will beat Ches it'll definitely be Knight. That finish is just so legit. I'm wondering if Ches would have beaten Knight in the race where Knight outkicked Rupp.
I think Knight will be fourth again behind Ches, Futsum, and Tiernan.
As far as the win goes, with how easy Cheserek made today's conference win look if he comes in and has an average day he will be in complete control of how much he chooses to win by. The real race is for second.

So, have any of these guys raced each other this season?
Anybody that thinks Tiernan won't be in the top 2 at nationals in 3 weeks just doesn't understand how much of an animal he is on the grass.

Can you guys please STFU with this "throwing down" nonsense? You sound like you're 15 years old. Oh, wait...
