Hello everyone, Im starting to get frustated. Im a junior in high school and my times are really bad, although i really work hard. Last summer I ran 400 miles, while the rest of my teammates didn't, they ran close to a one hundred. I do all the workouts with them, at their pace (including track workouts and long runs). During practice we do seem the same level, in fact I am better at long runs than they are. But in competitions they are way faster than me. In the district meet they got a 17:30 and a 17:38, and i got a 19:13. Please tell me what can I do to improve. Or whay does this happens? Also any trainning advice for off season? Im planning to run track in the spring. I can comfortably run 40 miles a week

1 mile: 5:09
During cross country season we ran about 35 miles a week, has one or two track workout, and a tempo run.
Please some help!!
