the rest are just hobbyjoggers who know they aren't fast/competitive. ultras are hobbyjoggers who take themselves extremely seriously.

Racewalking is actually more efficient. Also, Olympic Racewalkers have the cadence of world class 800 runners. For 50k. Despite its ridiculousness, it's harder than it looks.

Beyond that it's a wash. I mean Paul Chelimo is a 5K runner. Is he annoying? And marathon relay runners, what's up with that? Those can be kind of fun, you are not going to make a running career out of it, but a good workout with some friends, what's wrong with that? etc. Depends on the individual. But 1-5 here are definitive.

What is most pathetic is that you don't know the correct use of which versus what.
The most and by far, pathetic person is the person who uses the term "hobby jogger" referring to people who are slower than themself. As if, they, in fact are super studs who can run sub 14 5k without much effort. I think back to when I met Bill Rodgers for the first time in 1990. He was as humble as could be. He never used the term hobby jogger. Nor did he act arrogant. And, this is a man who stopped to tie his shoe while still running a 2:09 in Boston.
People who think and talk like the OP should remember one thing. Without all of these serfs, that are beneath our royal OP, how many people would actually be in each race? 17 ?, 22 ? And, how well would that go, my lord? Would the sponsors be jolly ? Or, would a lad such as yourself come to realize that although you may fancy yourself a baron or even a lord, you best resemble the definition of those with low self esteem. Those who degrade and insult others in an attempt to make yourself feel better about your short comings.

+1. They look like they're trying to walk home without shitting their pants why would you want to look like that? They take themselves so seriously too. I met one in college who was an insufferable cvnt.
Seriously how can a relay marathoner not be most pathetic? They sign up to do a half marathon and receive marathon credit. Ultra runners are next on the list, they boast about doing 50k at a 930 min/mile pace to their friends and act like its an accomplishment haha. Any obstacle 5k shouldn't count on the list unless they're bragging about finishing it in less than 30 minutes. Most people do those 5k obstacles strictly for fun. Half marathoners are ok so long as they're not bragging on social media they finished under 2 hours or something ridiculous, eventually when college 8k days are over you'll progress into the next category.
