Hi,
Wanting some feedback from some of you experts on this board on what kind of time I should shoot for this year. Really have no idea of my current 800 fitness.
Background: I am a collegiate runner coming off an injury redshirt. I haven't ran a 800 for 2 years other than 1 time trial. My freshman year I ran 1:55 off of minimal training (20 miles a week) but I had good 400 speed. 50.5 open. Highly doubt I could of broken 5 in the mile my freshman year but now run some workouts like 3x miles where I will dip under 5.
This year so far I have ran a 1:55 in a solo time trial and have really increased my speed and endurance compared to my freshman year. I'm running 55 miles a week with 5k and 3k workouts and every so often Ill throw in a pure speed workout (4x300).
Recent Workouts:
- 8x800 3 min break 2:25 average
-8x1k at 3:20 (2min break)
-4x300 ( 39, 38, 38, 35)
- long runs at 6:40 pace (10 miles)
I also recently ran a 400 time trial in september in 50.1 but I think my speed has increased since then, judging from my 4x300 workout 3 weeks ago.
Any suggestions on goals for this year or training for these next couple of months?
