A question to Matt le Tissier, who had a good surgeon, or anyone who has had this operartion.
I am an ex International athlete who also has this problem and have had it since the 80s! I have managed it but last year when walking in hard backed boots with my dog I aggravated the already large bump and it became unbearably sore. I however due I suppose to my formative years as an athlete carried on running and walking even though in great pain and even ran one of the park races and won it. I however could not even walk after the pain was so bad. I need to know of a good surgeon who can do this operation without cutting my Achilles as I have been told this will have to be done due to the size of my bump. I do in fact have one on each foot, but the left one is not hurting at the moment. I was told by the physio's at the hospital where I was supposed to have the surgery this Wednesday that I would never run again and to get rid of my dog as if walking had irritated it, then this would happen again and it would probably grow back. I was devastated and shocked at their comments. I am going to ring tomorrow and cancel my appointment as I am now very very upset and concerned. I do not want to be worse and they made out the operation did not have a good success rate. I have been unable to get to speak to the surgeon, they seem to be unreachable!! Please can someone help me find a good one, and is it worth having done, as so far I cannot find any positive info on this op. I am going to try and manage it. Help anyone...
