The most impt thing is to try to replicate the course. That means incorporating hills into your training, pretty much every day you're not at track. Find long (several-mile) stretches that go gradually downhill w/ relatively little uphill for the beginning of your long runs. Cap off your runs w/ hills that look like heartbreak. If you have not prepped your legs for running downhill for substantial periods of time, even the best sub-3 plan will not have you ready.
