You're thinking waaaay too much. Just go run.
The ones that fit your feet the best.
Seriously, though, go try a bunch on. When the fit is right and you never think about them, those are the best ones.
altra
trainers and spikes

Nike Free 3.0 Flyknit is fantastic
Any of the Zoom Victory series (1, 2, 3, elite, or elite 2) is more than adequate (Vic 1 is my fav) and the new AdizeroMD is excellent.

You might need a bit of heel on your trainers if you are a 800m runner just for recovery runs.
Don't get the Victory 2s or 3s. They suck just trust me. If the Superfly's from Rio come out try them or the Maxcat or whatever Adidas spikes Rudisha runs in. But if you are going to run 1500m/mile, 3k as well and you only can afford one pair look at the latest NB 800 or the Adidas Ambition or the Saucony Endorphin MD 4 or the Nike Mamba 2s or a pair of Nike Milers. Personally the best value spike is actually the Puma Evo speed Harambee it's the old spike that Kipketer, Ngeny and Komen used.

Over analysis son.
Train harder that will make you better not the shoes
Just run baby.
Trainers: Probably the saucony kinvara's, great for speedwork and tempo's.
Spikes: If you you can still find the saucony endorphin md4, they have a solid spike plate and rigidity, but also super light, also quite versatile (400m-1500m+). If not probably go with the new saucony ballista.
Des Linden: "The entire sport" has changed since she first started running Boston.
