I am a high school sophomore with a 4:15 mile time. Does anyone know what I would need to get my time down to for a full ride to a D1 college?
Thanks

I ran 4:03 as a sophomore. By senior I got that down to 4:01.21
Tried to walk on to state school, rejected. Sorry never gonna happen kiddo. You gotta be at leas sub 4 to get anything
What's the point of running yourself into the ground anyway?
100% Full Athletic Scholarship, Mid-Major
9:37.30, 3200m
15:17 XC
hope ur trolling m8 4:01 gets you a scholarship to any top program
Make good grades. 4:15 in itself might get you a lot at a mid-major program, and you might be able to cover the rest with academics. If you suck in school, be prepared to run sub 4:08 to even get a chance. You might be safe with a 4:02-3.

A full is tough in D1. I'd say sub 4:10 would get you a full to a lot of D1 programs.
The most elite programs would require low 4:0X for a full.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but at 4:15 you'd likely get a partial to some schools, but they're going to want to see progress. In other words, you need to go lower than 4:15 as a junior and show some progress in XC as a senior.
Jesus. Several of these threads are posted every week. Just EMAIL the coach you want to run for and see what they say. Explain how much mileage you run and your track times. If you must list an xc time, list the course and any other info (fast/slow/hilly/muddy) that might be helpful.

That is a phenomenal time as a sophomore. (Considering it's October, this means you haven't even run your sophomore track season yet!) You have 3 high school track seasons still!

Milestat says the only Frosh who ran 4:14.98 (in a 1600, not a mile) is Noah Tindale. Next guy is 4:17.65.
Interestingly, if you rewind 4 years to 2012, the fastest Frosh was Ben Bierman at 4:15.42 for a 1600. He never sniffed that time again, even as a Senior.
So, just because you're a super Frosh, don't expect to run sub 4:00 and get a full ride
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
