So, this morning I ran a 3 mile tempo with 6 x 200m reps at mile pace. According to the Daniels' book, my best mile, 5:32.88, suggests that my tempo pace should be 6:32/mile, and the reps should be like 42 secs. Today, the three miles were done in 19:08.94, not 19:36, and the reps were 36.72, 36.69, 37.86, and 37.68 (my phone died, so I don't know the final two splits). It felt like I was running tempo pace and mile pace (I normally do my reps in 41-ish secs).
As far as outside variables go, I've been working at a car wash for 30hrs./wk recently, and I normally wake up at like 5 or 6 (when I'm scheduled for 9 and 10am respectively) and get my miles in that way. I've also recently started my strength training regimen too. Somewhere in the middle of all this, Hurricane Matthew caused my training and work to be halted for four days.
The day prior to this run, I ran 30min. easy, when I normally would do 60min easy including 8 x 100m strides. I also woke up closer to 6:15am, bt got back into bed and started my warm-up at 7:10-ish.
What do y'all think of this? Thanks for reading.
