Pete Kostelnick will run a route that is longer than the minimum needed to qualify as a record. I believe his planned route started as a 3,063 run but there have been some changes.
Will plotting a shorter route be the focus of the runners who will try to better his record (assuming he sets a new one)? How does someone go about planning 'the best route'? Rivver crossings mountain passes road type traffic safe places to stop a lot of things to figure out.
I believe Guinness BofR requires 2776 miles- that's would yield a time about 3 1/2 days shorter at PKs pace per day.
