Anyone had shcokwave for their PF before?
Did it work?
What is the protocol? Number of treatments, time between, can you run etc
Did your pain ever return?

I had the low energy type performed last month once every 3 weeks. So far there has been no improvement. Had PRP twice 2 months ago and that didn't work either. Works for some people, others no Unfortunately.
While it wasn't for PF but rather for Achilles Tendinopothy, it worked well for me. Tried pretty much everything for about 6 months, and everything failed.
Prescribed treatment was once a week for 3 weeks (and a fourth week if needed). Couldn't run at all at this stage, but wasn't long afterwards before I started running again.
The pain did return, but after a few years again (I've always had niggles and injuries around either of my Achilles as a result of too much hillwork).
No I haven't but battled it for years and this article was ulitmately what helped me http://www.somastruct.com/treatment-of-plantar-fasciitis/
I tried it and it didn't seem to help me recover any faster. It could have helped a very slight amount, but rest is really what fixed it, I believe.

What doctor and where did you have the treatment ? I've been struggling with Achilles for almost 2 years and want to try shockwave
Bump.
Had it done, worked well for a while (2-3 years) - eventually came back. Took out about 80-90 percent of the issue at the time. Single treatment, ~2500 individual shocks to planter area, took 15 mins and was in/out procedure. They gave me a heal block, but was able to drive home after. Seems like I took a few day off and then began back.
Would also think about PRP depending upon the specific issue. After 3 years, I partially tore the PF (they said 30-40 percent of the way across per the MRI). Did a PRP injection and within 3 weeks was running at full capacity - nothing short of a medical miracle given I had been on crutches after the rupture and no ability to put weight on the area. Key is a Doc who really understands the procedure and where to inject the blood at.
Im a resident out in Denver and we use shockwave for plantar fasciitis all the time. It really has great results. No injection needed, 3 times, once per week and youll feel better. We do have people fly from out of state weekly to have this done.
Goto my blog, I have written about it. Let me know if you have any questions. My email should be there. If you are close to Denver or want to come out let me know and I can help get you an appointment.
Shockwave therapy has many variables. There are many types of machines from very cheap to very expensive. The application in terms of power, location and after care are other variables. I utilize a multimodal approach with graston, dry needling, ART, k taping, treating the entire kinetic chain and such . Joint manipulation of joints of the foot are important as well. Dr. Trent
I have bought something from planter fasciitis for a year. I cannot walk and have all the severe symptoms. I am thinking about having shockwave therapy but I am quite a scared of pain.
My pain threshold is very low. Could anybody please tell me whether This treatment is painful or not? Appreciated
Where did you do the PRP? What state & doctor? I am glad you are better! I am struggling...
Stretch your calves really really well. Especially the soleus.
Had bad Pf as a college Xc runner took 8 months to go away.
Now training as a marathoner, I’ve had it each sept, had shockwave both times and it was completely resolved after 4-6 weeks. IMO its a must try.
I know this is an old thread that was bumped by a bot, but will share my experience
I had 8 treatments roughly a week apart. First few made the biggest difference then I plateaued. The next day or two after treatment was painful, then I'd occasionally have a really good day, but pain would come back a few days later.
Ended up getting a cortisone injection which made a huge difference - wish I went that route sooner.
