I've put almost 800 miles on my current pair of Brooks Adrenaline GTS-15. I've had almost every shoe in the Adrenaline series, but I tried the 16s and they didn't work for me. Too narrow. My toes need room to breathe. So they're not an option. It's almost impossible to find 15s, so they're soon not going to be an option.
I wear my shoes with no orthotics--I got rid of them--but with a carbon fiber insert that I love. (I've got some hallux rigidus in my left big toe and need the support.)
My question is, what is a comparable shoe to the Adrenaline? I'd prefer lighter rather than heavier, obviously, and with a little less heel lift, if possible. I'm a midfoot striker.
Although the Adrenalines are my daily trainers, I occasionally swap them out for Mizuno Wave Elixer 7s (I'm guessing they're about 5 years old). I race in Asic Gel Banditos (also 3-5 years old) and they are fantastic. I wore them for a workout yesterday, something I never do, and my stride felt easy and powerful.
In terms of foot, I'm basically a neutral pronator. I need a fair bit of space up front; when I don't get it--i.e., when I wear socks that are too thick, and/or when I lace my shoes too tight--I develop some Morton's neuroma on long runs.
Advice?
