In my state, I heard there was an email sent out highlighting possible changes for cross country in the next couple of years.
One of the proposals was a mileage cap for high school runners. Out of all the proposals, I thought this was the most ridiculous.
How would a governing body go about enforcing it?
Why not throw out an 'intensity cap' as well if the runners' health is the main concern?
Have any other states even thought of this?
In my mind, the effects on results and development could be huge. Granted, where would the cap be? 100 mpw for seniors? 85 for juniors? 70 for sophomores? 55 for freshman? Or would they make them really low? I have no idea.
