Bonnies FTW!!! both men and women sides
La Salle runs away with it. No one can stop them. Might as well hand them the trophy now.
On the men's side, I agree that La Salle looks really strong. For biggest improvement compared with historic finishes at A10s, I'll go with SLU.
Women--Duquesne?
GW has been surprisingly good this season too. The addition of track has been a huuuuge help for them.
Looking at the ranking lists from their respective regions:
Men
#7 La Salle
#10 Saint Joseph's
#10 Dayton
#11 Davidson
#12 Saint Louis
#12 Duquesne
#12 George Mason
#14 George Washington
Women
#10 Duquesne
#12 George Washington
#13 Dayton
The men's field looks pretty loaded if you trust the polls. Granted, each region has different strengths, but I don't think La Salle is going to run away with it. I think 3-7 points are going to separate a lot of these schools' placing. The 5-7 men are going be very important this year.
la salle and st joes definitely seem to be a cut above the rest of the conference this year. With that said, last years results prove that anything can happen. I'd predict:
1. St Joes
2. La Salle
3. St. Louis
4. Umass
5. Davidson
individually, I'd think feruzzi, dorsey, brewster, cook, brewster, and de backer all have a shot
I think you're underrating Duquesne. They ran pretty well at Penn State on a long course. Short of a few teams at the very top, I think there are a lot of very similarly talented teams in the mix this year.
I agree with your individual title chances, but all of those guys ran on short or lightning fast courses with good competition. Depending on how the race goes out, I could see a dark horse getting the win.
Not that I'm biased - but lasalle is the team to beat on the mens side and Duquesne on the women's side.
I like Lasalle, st. Joes, Mason, Davidson for the men.
Duq, Rich, Dayton, St. Louis for the ladies.
St. Louis for the women?...what are you seeing that I'm not. Maybe you have the genders confused.
I think Gavin coaches his boys up and they pull off the upset over lasalle.
Well, that was interesting. Who picked Dayton for the win? Lasalle 6th? Do they no longer have A10 magic? A 6th and 9th in last 3 years
Awesome day of racing! Had plenty of upsets and surprises. Anything can happen at the conference meet.
What happened to Brewster? Was he injured this season? Only a few races and 28th yesterday. Hope he is alright
Great victory for Dayton - a program without varsity Track & Field.
I remember a few years ago when Richmond (also without varsity Track) not only won the conference meet, but qualified for NCAAs. Any chance Dayton can replicate this feat?
Richmond won conference in 2010 and qualified for nationals that same year. They cut track in 2012. Haven't been the same since. The Great Lakes is too top-heavy this year to get out of aside from the the Top-5 programs.
Is Dayton the first XC-only program to win their conference meet?
Apparently, Brewster has been struggling with some sickness. I expected him to win, given his 2 conference titles on the track last year. But if you get sick, there's little you can do. When he's firing on all cylinders, not many people can beat him.
