Too much pain is obviously the keyword. You've got to decide what this means. As long as you are not limping, even a little bit, and you've got to be completely honest about the limping. Even a little limping is a big sign.

Thanks! I probably favor my right leg walking around, but once I get into a workout it all kind of dulls away and i think I maintain form. Anyways, I told my coach to pull me if he sees my form change when running. I'll probably post back in a few weeks on if it worked

Do NOT stretch a pulled muscle, let it heal. Massaging is fine.

It's all situational. Situation A: This xc season is a be-all and end-all moment in your running career = run races and workouts until that leg breaks god dam it. At this point in the season, you can cross train all your easy runs and stay fit. Situation B: XC matters more than track to you and you have a bigger impact to your team in xc than in track = run as many races and workouts as possible without causing so much damage that you'll be sidelined for months. Situation C: This season isn't any more significant than the next for you and your contribution to your team's score = Keep running races and workouts as long as you can fully heal in a few weeks after the season. Unless you're having a sh!t season, then just quit now if it really doesn't matter to your team's position.

I think slight limping during races and workouts is fine. I'll catch myself limping off of very subtle pain that could definitely heal in a few weeks. If the limping and pain gets bad, you can always cross train workouts and skip less significant races.

Try to rehab it in the meantime as much as possible.

I had some posterior tibial issues for a good while (couple months) but it can and will go away if you give it some rest and strengthen appropriate muscles.

Seems like what you have is an issue with the muscle not its tendon, so you're likely facing a better and quicker recovery, but strengthening once back to normal is never a bad idea!

Hey guys, OP here. I made it through the end of the season fine. The first couple weeks were tough. I felt like I may have had a stress fracture as I was running on it (I didn't or I wouldn't have been able to make it through). Real striking pain through my shin, but it would go away if I was going fast enough and had some adrenaline going. I only ran 3 workouts a week and spent the other 4 in the pool. I continued with pt twice a week and they tried to work out the adhesions in the posterior tibialis. So I made it, and now I can take time off.

For anyone who else who has this, maybe you can make it too.

I had what sounds like the exact same injury. At the beginning of my runs I had to limp when I ran but eventually it would feel better especially if I got into grass. At its worst I had to take like 4 days off an de just biked. I made sure to get Graston scraping done on it a couple times. That helps a lot. Other than that it just hurt to run on pavement for like a month and a half. It took a while but slowly it took less time during runs until I felt I had to stop limping. Eventually I had no pain and started running really well. Just takes time. Ice a lot, use compression during and outside of runs, stretch when it's warm. Be patient and don't be stupid. Maybe back off mileage a bit. It'll get better.

I had a massage on Monday , post tib pain 95 percent gone :)
