Painting the picture: interesting, very-educated girl I'm chatting up for about 10 minutes in a low-key bar. She went to an ivy-league college, the conversation seems to go pretty well, and we have a good amount in common.
It's a meetup event however, and other people are in the conversation. She has another thing going on in a few minutes and is going to leave. Usually when I ask women out I talk about something we have in common and say, "Oh I love Thai food too! Have you been to X restaurant? We should go. Let's exchange numbers and go out."
Then I talk with them longer so it's not like I was just trying to get their number. In this case I couldn't do that; my other option was to ask her for her number as she was packing up to leave.
That'd be awkward in my mind. What do you think?
Unfortunately I don't bump into people several times at these meetup events so I could have made a move quickly.
I'm your atypical letsrun dude that is *not* a 15:30/4:20 runner. I'm above-average height, average-looking, great-shape, young physician with a paltry 5k in the 16s.
