Hi there. I was just wondering if anyone would be willing to give me some advice on how to train for the 800 this winter. This is my senior year of track and I really want to make state this year. Usually I focus more on the 1600m and only run the 800 for our 4x800, but this year the 1600 in our area is very stacked with 9 guys who could be running sub 4:20. For this reason, I want to run the 800(much less stacked). My PRs are 800- 2:00.8 (relay split), 1600- 4:29.9, 3200- 10:15, 5k(Xc)- 16:48 on a flat course roughly 75m long. I have not run an open 400 but have split a 39 second 300 to close a workout at the end of track last year before running 2:00. Any advice to help me reach my goal of 1:56 would be great!
