What do you think? We know he used to do 10 mile distance runs at altitude, sometimes several days in a row, at 5:00min/mile pace or slightly faster. What could this Moroccan science experiment have run for the M?

2:18. Not enough Type I fibers.

Oh please. Anybody who could run 12:50 could run under 2:10.
Sub 2
Type 2 to 1 transition occurs readily with extensive aerobic training; the reverse (with anaerobic training), not so much.

Since you called...
Mo Farah is the closest analogy we have to El G, and he ran 2:08. So I would agree that El G could have cracked 2:10, "just because." But probably right around 2:07/2:08.
1:57 - 1:58 Something in that range

Shows what a waste of time that is.
About 2-06
That appears to be the doped Spanish and Morrocan ceiling for the marathon.

Emphasis on "If properly trained" in thread title.
At worst 2:05, probably 2:03 high.
Paul Tergat ran 7:28 and 12:49, so no reason to think El G would have done worse than 2:05-06.

I cant stop laughing at the 10k time of 36 minutes in 2008. For those who remember the era; did he really never run a competitive 10k? What could he have run? Sub 26.40?
