Being one of the few girls here, i have a very funny story.
In 9th grade I won state xc. pretty good, eh? not a small school either. ran low 18:00s. they announced it on the loudspeaker, and that was the end of it. The class where they announced it, second period, was when I had P.E., and our PE teacher was gone that day, so he didnt hear.
Spring rolls around, and we run the mile in PE for fitness testing. of course, im in the heart of track season, one or two days before state. I take it easy, and run 7:30 in PE. My PE teacher looks at me, and says: Wow, you have a lot of talent. a 7:30 mile for a girl is awesome. You should run cross country next year.
Ha Ha. I laugh, and proceed to win state with a 4:55. The next day during PE, the announcements come on. Evidentally, my 7:30 mile in PE was still on my teachers brain. That is, until we hear over the PA: "congratulations to freshman (instert name) for winning the mile in state track with a time of 4:55!"
I have never seen such a priceless look on my PE teachers face.
