"Is it possible to be fat and fit?" No.
She is not an ultra runner. She is an ultra walker.

There's a difference?
Absolutely disgusting
Here is a video about here:

Good for her, glad she is providing a positive example, for younger girls especially.
I coach Jr. High Cross Country and I use this video with my kids to help them be more accepting of each other and to help my "overweight kids" stick with it.
The video will teach your kids it is ok for them to gain weight and become obese.

No, we use it more as a tool to understand that everyone is different and we should work to be the best person we can be, we also stress healthy eating.
My overweight kids already know they are over weight and most of them are overweight because of their parents poor eating and exercise habits, it is my job to start chipping away at those habits in favor of a more healthy lifestyle.
This lady is motivating others to run and improve themselves, what is so horrible about that?
She should get sponsored by Michelin.
She doesn't run much... So her size is not surprising to me. A few quotes from the article:
"Valerio settles in to the three-quarter-mile-long trail along the lakeshore. She runs about 25 miles a week if she's not training for a race, 35 if she's pointing toward an event."
"Valerio runs at about an 11-to 13-minute-mile pace."
So at least 45 weeks of the year she runs 25 miles a week at 13 minute pace. After factoring in that these are likely exaggerations (because that's what runners do...) she probably runs 20 miles a week at 15-16 minute pace 45 weeks a year. So less than 3 miles a day.
It should not surprising she is overweight.
It's good for her to be exercising though. Imagine if she sat on the couch eating cheetos all day?
25-35 miles a week jogging is plenty to stay slim. It's like banking a whole day of not eating per week.
Still, I don't see having a problem with this woman.

Except she isn't improving herself - she remains morbidly obese.
So to answer your question, the horrible thing is that it sends a message that running a moderate amount per week is justification for poor eating habits, and that being morbidly obese is healthy as long as you are doing some exercise.
Obesity has become an epidemic in North America. It's the new smoking.
We need to have an honest discussion about this. Telling people that you can be morbidly obese and still healthy isn't an honest discussion. It's putting feelings ahead of science.
Exactly.

Actually it is. There are overweight and obese people who metabolically healtht in that they are not insulin resistant, have healthy blood glucose and cholesterol levels, no hypertension, etc.
Coversely, one of the complications of lipodystrophy (a condition where you don't develop functional fat) is insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

This earns a 0/10.
I hate to say this but I think Crossfit would be better for this woman than running.
She's making a living off of being fat. No way she'd jump off that gravy train.

^This. (And you shouldn't hate to say that.)
I bet she eats a lot of grains and thinks that's "healthy." She should cut as much carbs as possible, and eat more red meat.
When you wrote "fat" I assumed you meant "non-anorexic," but no. When you said fat, you meant porker.
I personally enjoy being fat. The farthest I run everyday is to my truck in the driveway. I drive an old large pickup that pollutes the air and thins the ozone layer and irritatates the lungs of runners on the road as i drive past them. I hate people who run on the road. Their should be a law that prohibites runners from using the sidewalks or roads. The reason why it's called a sidewalk is because people are supposed to walk on them not run. Roads are meant for cars and trucks. If people want to run then go to the park or use a treadmill. A lot of Runners are pretty dumb now get a life please
