I have been dealing with an insertional Achilles tendon problem for more than a year and I can't tolerate any strong pressure on the back of my heel. For daily walking around I cut the back of the heel completely out of a pair of retired running shoes and they feel great, but I haven't been able to wear cut-out shoes for actual running--they slide around too much and beat up the rest of my foot. I've been doing most of my running in an old pair of Saucony Kinvaras which are pretty soft in the back, but those shoes are worn out and really need to be replaced. Can anyone recommend a relatively lightweight, neutral trainer that is particularly soft in the back of the heel? I'm 115 pounds and a mid- to forefoot striker. I'll go with another pair of Kinvaras as a default, but if there's something better I'd like to consider it.
