I was looking at the front page post on the Rio Olympic prediction winners and saw that the winner was the coach of Millard West high school. I decided to look up some of his athletes and noticed Seth Hirsch, a footlocker finalist last year who I remember looking tiny compared to the rest of the competitors.
He's a senior this year and Milesplit posted a short article on 4 weeks of his summer training, which can be found here:

Is this kind of training normal for a runner of his caliber? The mileage seems normal, but what struck me was the pace. This kid seems like an aerobic machine! Maybe I don't quite understand the level of these runners (I was a 16:15 runner who ran nearly all my miles at 7 flat.)
Anyone care to help me out here?
