It's time to get these killers off our streets. Good work Montreal.

The whole province of Ontario did that 10 years ago. Try and keep up.
Of course these bans don't eliminate pit bulls. You'll have to wait until all the current ones die before you can go to those safe places.
Doggy racism.
I agree.
I worked in an animal shelter for > 5 years and can say with certainty that they are risky to be around. Plus, they are hideous.
How is this possible? Aren't politicians worried about losing that all-important demographic of Pit Bull Fanciers?
Keep Pit Bulls. It culls the lowest members of society
I've fostered more pittys then years you've been alive that have come from cruelty cases, dog fighting, neglect, etc. and never once have I felt threatened or attacked by one. PIttys also have one of the best temperaments out of any dog breed. Once again, people fall for the main stream medias opinion and can't think on their own. Did schools eliminate critical thinking? Have you ever noticed in articles about dog attacks they use key words when a pitbull attacks vs when any other dog attacks a person? Take notice you might actually learn something

They were bread to be attackers. People should not have them as pets just like they should not have tigers as pets.

You obviously didn't work in any animal shelter and you have no idea about dogs.
There are no bad dogs, only bad dog owners.
Buehrle better person than any Canadian / Cuebecker.

A bad dog owner with a beagle is a much different case than with a killing machine like a Pit.
I live in the Chicago area and often see young women with a PitBull on a leash. This makes her chances of being assaulted go from relatively high to basically zero. I'm not sure I would want to see them banned.
I have exactly one friend who has had a dog that was attacked by another dog. The dog doing the attacking was a pitbull.
I also have exactly one friend whose dog attacked another dog. The dog doing the attacking was a pitbull. That pitbull was very loved and had no history of violence. Brought it into a vet and without provocation it latched onto another dog's neck. Thankfully they were already in a vet, otherwise the other dog probably would have died.
Very small sample size, of course. However, I do not know one single person who has a pitbull that doesn't think he/she is a total badass. They're buying an image with that dog. They want others to think they, personally, are a hardass. Without fail.

"... relatively high..." what does that even mean? You make it seem like every women in Chicago is always in danger. This is obviously not true.

^An alternative to the second amendment. At least until the liberals take everyone's dogs.

Nice "strawman" !
They were not bread to be attackers you moron. Do a little history lesson. They are extremely intelligent dogs that fell into the wrong hands in society. It is indeed a shame some idiots have these dogs because they are one of the best out there in terms of loyalty and intelligence. Are some bred now to be fighters? Absolutely, but it's not in their blood. I have owned many, and ones who have come from not so ideal situations. They are dogs who need exercise and socialization. If you do this, in my eye they are one of the best breeds to own. It's idiots like you spewing off at the mouth, the media, and the thugs that breed them that keep giving them a bad image.
