Why Farah never goes for WR?
He has speed, he runs sub 3:30 for 1500. Why doesn't he tries to go for WR on 5000 and 10000?
He never tries that on the diamond league

He has refined & specialized his fitness to the requirements of winning major championship races. Since nobody else is willing or capable of running WR paces, this means developing a very fast finish off a relatively slow paced race. If there were 2 or 3 other runners capable of very fast front running then perhaps he would change his training to run faster races but we'll probably never know.
Because he can't. He isn't fast enough. Mo is a 1500 runner who likes entering 5K and 10K races.
He runs a lot of half marathons with fast times of 1 hour
That's not true. Lame excuse. In the women racing today there's also nobody that can brake records beside Ayana and G. Dibaba. Yet you see Ayana going for records alone in the diamond leage (with rabbits for half a race). And also Dibaba broke the 1500m record with a rabbit Chanelle Price that runs the 800.
As a matter of fact, in most cases it's one guy that tries for a WR with rabbits.

And winning them. At the top level. Over and over.
I could live with that.

Forget going for a WR.
He never tries for a PR.
His 5 and 10 PRs (his championship events) are from 2011.
But I do give him credit for being versatile and not running the same event over and over.
Every season he runs a serious 1500 and a serious half marathon plus throws in a 3000 while doubling in a championship 5000 an 10000.
Plus he ran a 2:08 marathon within 12 months of running a 3:281500. That you never see.
And he usually puts up a good indoor time most years.
He puts in a full year of quality racing when you add it all up.
Too difficult.
Farah doesn't claim to be the fastest of all time. As time goes on people will appreciate the rarity of some world record's and will just focus on the current competition, much like a large portion of the women's sport.
Nobody said "wow, Elaine did well this year, but that was no 10.5..."
Problem is, when his career is over he may regret not finding out how fast he could run a 5000.
A big part of running is knowing just how much you can push your body to run fast.
He's sitting there with a 12:53 PR which makes him #31 all time at this point.
He's better than that and may like to know just how better he could be.
If it is the need to keep his 1500m time sharp that prevents him from optimizing his 5k and 10k times, maybe there will be a transitional season before he switches to the marathon where he really works on strength and has the chance to focus on putting up some fast times in the 5 and 10k. Even though Bekele's records are likely out of reach, I'd like to see Farah try to set some big PRs. If he doesn't even try, it really disqualifies him from GOAT discussions. Hell, your could argue he isn't necessarily the UK's GOAT at 5k given how long ago David Moorcroft ran 13:00.
Little known fact. Mo has been secretly training for the WR in the steeple. I saw some grainy cell footage from that tree covered track in Oregon.
7'49"
Book it.
I think the main reason is that KB's world records in the 5/10k are pretty much superhuman. I think Mo knows that KB's records are probably out of reach for him.
Also, Mo really has no real rival. Geb chased Tergat's records. KB chased Geb's records. There was overlap between great track racers that had one great racing against the next up and coming great. KB was in a funk when Mo started racing against him. No one else has really been able to push Mo the way Geb/Tergat/KB pushed each other.
Mo said in an interview after Rio that he will try to go for the 5k World record in 2017 and i'm pretty sure he will go for fast one in the Pre Classic for the 10k
We will see how it goes

We know how it will go. No go. No mo. Slow mo. Rojo. No Mojo. Oh no.

I'll believe an attempt when I see it. Dude complained about everyone else while being towed to 26:46... Time trials are gut checks... Mo just doesn't have it.
Refardless, there aren't enough pacers or drugs on Earth to drag Mo "Excuses" Farah to a world record. Unless the dude maybe, maybe focused a season in the 1500? He's much closer to the WR in his signature even: 1500m. Monaco. I can see it now. "Oops" face.
Maybe that Puma pacer robot can understand and empathize with the Mobot well enough to help him to a PR at least? Is that thing legal yet?
Or maybe strap a shit load of cash to the tracked mechanical rabbit at a dog track? Are those tracks IAAF-certified? Maybe also strap some kind of doping immunity contract to it too.
Because I think he may have a deal with Seb Coe and the iaaf and wada that he can continue to use peds and win races as long as he doesn't break any WRs in the process. I'm sure that there is a lot more details about this but I have no knowledge of them. Anyone one here know anything about this if it's true?

Mo and KB are the same age. They have been racing each other since ~2002.
It is part of his Faustian bargain with the IAAF to protect him from WADA. Lots of medals, but no major records.
this. KB is an anomaly whether or not his records are tainted.
