I put in over +500 miles in the summer, and have been doing 3 mile tempos at 17:40 pace ( Just about 5:54 average)
I started this season off with 16:58 (2 weeks ago). Good to break 17, but ran the race stupidly. I hadn't run anything fast like that in months and went out 5:10. Everyone said i looked extremely comfortable, and i felt it, but started to die just pretty badly, I'm guessing because I hadn't run a race since may, and a 5k since last november. My race plans have definitely changed ,and I'm going to work on going out around 5:20 and hold it for the second mile, and see whats left the last. My question is what do you think would be a realistic time for me to run by the end of the season?
First race was 11 days ago in 16:58 (flat course)
I still get to run at that course 2-3 times in the middle/late october. I have in my mind the time i would like to hit but i want to know what might be realistic for me to get to. From the first 5k to the last one on that flat home course i get about 6-7 weeks in. Thanks for your time.
