Hey Y'all -- I'm a 30 yr old male who is shooting for sub 1:11 half and sub-2:30 marathon within the next year. I have run the following times within the past year (all PRs):
5K: 15:24
5M: 25:28
Half Marathon: 1:11.25
Marathon: 2:37:30
I ran the 5k and 5m times this spring, but was injured from April through August. I've been running 45-55 mpw for about 6 weeks now, with a few track workouts under my belt.
Would it be risky (or even feasible) to dedicate the next 8 weeks to an attempt at running a sub-1:11 half at the end of November? I have the opportunity to run a big half marathon for free and am kind of itching to get a big race in before year's end. Or would it be best to use the rest of the year to gradually build up the miles in anticipation for Boston 2017 (which I'm running)? Thanks for your opinions, I appreciate it.
