I ran a marathon eight days ago and am thinking of running another this weekend (it's local and I ran it last year). Since last week's race, I've run twice for a grand total of 13 miles. How much do you think I've lost in terms of overall fitness and by how much should I lower my expectation compared to my most recent race?
For those interested, here is some additional background info.
I've run five marathons in the last 18 months including two this year (end of July and eight days ago). My average mileage for the last 32 weeks (including taper and recovery weeks) is 64, with peaks in the low 80s. The average of all long runs (including races and 9-mile LRs during recovery weeks) over the same period is 19 miles.
The seven weeks between my most recent two races was the shortest gap between marathons (I've run a total of 8 in the last five years).
Last year, including six weeks of minimal running with a torn calf, I averaged 47mpw.
FWIW I'm male, 39, 5'10" and 125.
