Ex-D3 guy from a certain NESCAC school (don't need to name it). Out of college less than 5 years now, and have never stopped running completely, but have never seriously trained for anything. Basically, I'm not fat or out of shape, but I don't think I'd run much faster than 16:00 in a 5k right now.
Ran 1 marathon in 2:45, which was fine... didn't train and had a bunch of injuries leading up to it, ran with a friend for half, etc. etc... All that to say, don't rule me out from the 2:45.
In college I ran 30:05 and 14:25. Definitely felt more comfortable at 10. Right after track my senior year, I ran a 1:08.
Anyway, I'd like to run a 2:25-2:30 at Boston in the Spring. I'm getting my MBA, which is work intensive, but not prohibitive from training. I ran huge miles in college but I don't really want to run above 80 if I can help it. Doubles only as a last resort.
Does anyone have experience like this? I'm in a weird state of fitness (and potential fitness) where I don't feel significantly slower than I was in college, but I don't know that I'm really going to improve.....
