Do you mean at the elite level or at all levels?
I'd say at both, really, but the sub-elite, HS, etc., levels may need to up their training volume a bit to prove it.
No, they are sprinters with endurance. Every race ends in a sprint. It's all about sprinting. All the rest is just foreplay. Ask Kipsang.
I get what you are saying, but they are built much more similarly to the classic distance runners than the classic sprinters.
800 is the last distance you would sprint all out. After that you start adding endurance. Shit, people training for 100 and 200 spend more time squating than sprinting
3000 m is ran at maximum aerobic capacity (vo2max). This is the first distance I'd say starts being more aerobic than anaerobic

No that's the 200m; every distance above that requires some form of pacing
