I went to buy new running shoes and got to talking to the worker about his running. He said hes running over 100mpw, he also said he runs sub 14 5k and ran a 1:06 half marathon. I asked him what his best marathon is and he said hes never done one because he doesn't have time to train for one. I said, you run 100mpw, aren't you already trained? He said "I know I could easily finish one, but I would have a time goal that I wouldn't be able to achieve without total dedication and I don't have time for that. I'd have to get more sleep, change my diet, do weight training."
It kind of blew me away. How much do things like that effect times at that kind of level? Do I just not understand because I am nowhere near that level?
