I agree with finding a hematologist. Whether you get iron infusions or are told to supplement with oral iron, it's a good idea to have a hematologist monitor your levels and find out why you're so low. More than likely it's a simple lack of intake through diet and supplements, but it's a good idea to rule out the other stuff (gluten intolerance/celiac, heavy menstrual bleeding if you're female, etc.) My daughter had similar numbers to yours and supplemented orally for a month. She was on 3x65mg elemental iron and 3xProferrin daily. Her numbers did come up, but the doc wanted them higher. Since XC season was quickly approaching, we decided to give her a boost via IV iron. After 4 sessions, she felt like a million dollars within a week or two and now we're hoping she can run well in the tournament season. We also increased her iron intake through food and cast iron pots. Any little thing helps. She has always been a meat-eater, but my guess is her gluten intolerance was inhibiting absorption, along with her cycles... high mileage, etc.
She took one week off during the summer running time just to give the oral iron a chance to kick in. It worked out with our family vacation time anyway. It's a process, even with infusions. The body has to not only absorb the iron, but process it. Anyway, all the best to you.
