Not your death. A loved ones death. Wife, father etc. (Only on LRC would that need to be clarified)
Stoopid!
Going home devastated
The rejection and loss of divorce following a 19 year marriage and 26 year relationship. 1000x worse than when my Mom died. We're still "friends and co-parents" though so I get to revisit the pain and suffering almost every day for the next 10+ years.
I will go ahead and be the downer.
My best friend drowned last year. The initial loss was tough enough, but the worst part is that in several instances of every single day I am reminded of him. A good song comes on that we jammed out to, a football game that I wish we were watching, a funny joke I know he'd appreciate, a funny tv show, etc. It sucks to be constantly reminded every couple hours that they were taken away in an instant and you will never see them again.

Is the pain from a feeling of failure or wanting to get back to something and not being able to?
While I was at Parris Island I was sentenced to one month in prison. I was beaten and tortured and given a Dishonorable Discharge from the Marines. My jaw was broke, My spine was strained. I still take pain killers and have acupuncture after over 50 years.

One of my teeth broke and the nerve was exposed and I couldn't get to a dentist right away. It's everyone's nightmare and it's as bad as you think. The pain was so excruciating I didn't know how I'd make it through the night. I mainly paced the floor.
Also, as one other guy said, kidney stones are really bad. I ended up in the emergency room with those.
another vote for kidney stones. I thought that I was going to die.
Appendicitis that turned into raptures appendix before I got to the doctor. For about six hours it got progressively worse until I thought I was dying. Turns out I was, and almost did. Rare in adults, but if you have kids and they complain of lower right abdominal pain, get them in right away for a scan.
