does it get any better than this???
"Janel Healy So you finished the same day as Metzler and fifteen hours faster??
1 · 4 hrs
Kaiha Bertollini
Kaiha Bertollini No he finished the night before me, he started before me, I never caught up to him. But yes, my time is faster.
1 · 3 hrs"
LOL, of course she did!
Are you for real?
She has some nice ink though...
I am willing to take her word for it based on that backside photo.
Oh, this is classic! I love these FKT's. Records in the making! Literally!
We need background info on this gal.
Who is she? Has she ever hiked the AT before? Has she ever hiked before? Is she a runner or ultra runner? Has she ever done anything athletic before?
Give us something. We need info!
Is that her backpack in the pic? So if you're doing a supported FKT on the AT, why would you carry a sleeping pad in your backpack? Wouldn't you carry the bare minimum and let your crew meet you somewhere with the necessities like tent, pad, and sleeping bag?
Couple things
- I think she was actually doing an unsupported hike which makes her beating the supported times even crazier
- She's a smoker (not commenting on her appearance, she smokes cigarettes)
Oh, it gets even better. She allegedly did this FKT SELF-supported!
well I believe her.
This one is going to blow up like Rossi and Young.
Loony Tunes SJW without documentation. If it was a guy everyone would laugh it off immediately. Instead of "Doing it for the kids", she was "doing it for the sexual assault victims". Smoking cigs, taking "zeros" and gunning for the "S.O.B." Karl Meltzer, who she has never met and who was documenting every step. She is an attention hoar looking to take away from a legit effort.
Makes Robert Young look like the Paragon of Transparency.

Not only that, but a yo-yo. She supposedly hiked 2000 miles before even turning after the record.Right.

Sounds like Kaiha accidentally broke the record by too much. She basically broke every known AT record all at once. Both genders. Fastest supported or self-supported. It's almost like Rosie Ruiz cheating but accidentally winning Boston in the process. Oops. A bit too much cheating.
At least she has some sun burns unlike Rob Young.
Too many questions about this online.
She didn't really declare her plans publicly in advance which is required for a FKT.
She did a yoyo which should've left her worn down before attempting the FKT.
She only averaged 33 mpd the first 8 days and then took a zero on a rainy day.
She had to average over 54 miles a day the last 10 days.
Besides the 2190 miles of the trail, she would've had to hike off trail to refuel and resupply since she was doing it self-supported.
She didn't wear a SPOT device, which Anish did.
And of course, it's for charity.
just posted her facebook link to karl's wall, will update if he responds.
The donation link goes to her own personal paypal account.

Ruh roh.
Let's see, what do we have.
A very undocumented record attempt.
Little or no use of electronic data recording.
Observers who mention behavior (a zero day while smoking cigs) that doesn't mesh with a record attempt.
No prior history of anything close to this kind of speed.
A criminal record.
Charity.
Invitation to have random observers help document the record.
All we need now is a lady in a bunny suit, an axe-wielding psychopath in Kansas, and a crack whore wondering down a street at midnight. And the AARP to set up camp chairs and observe.
Hey, at least her mugshots are kinda hot!
