"I had the opportunity to be with both police officers this evening, and their families. One officer was cracking jokes with his kids and wife. The other officer was talking with her family. So we are happy, very blessed that that's the way it turned out. I think we have to keep them in our prayers. The civilians, there are some seriously hurt, and still in various degrees of being treated. And I think all in all it was really a terrible scary night. But our officers turned out okay, and hopefully the civilians will turn out okay," said Mayor Kenney.

From what I read, two people are dead. And of those, 50% were killed by cops who think it's funny. Also, the mayor isn't bothered in the slightest.

As an adjective "US" can function in this sentence in a variety of ways. It's called syntax, and you should learn it in basic college English.

For example, consider the phrases "fire sale" or "garage sale" or "Christmas sale." The words "fire," "garage," and "Christmas" all function as adjectives describing the noun "sale." Their function, however, differs. "Fire" describes the reason for the sale, presumably a store suffered a fire. "Garage" indicates where the sale is located, not what is for sale. "Christmas" indicates either when or why the sale is being offered.

Now, back to "US police." The phrase could mean the OP thinks there are federal police like you assume. But since that is not the case in the U.S.A., it would be wrong to assume that. Instead, the OP obviously meant [local] police in the United States.

Should have learned it. Surely basic English is taught is hs & specialised subjects not necessarily English are studied in college.

Obama should order the 101st ABN to take over the whole Phily city and county govt, police, prisons, judges, civil servants, secure it, imprison or dismiss all of them, then turn over to the Justice Department.

The BLM movement is organizing a demonstration to show an outporing of love and concern for all the police who have been victimized by hateful profiling.

What I don't understand about the BLM movement, is that if they think police are corrupt and biased against blacks, why don't they just have more of their people become police?
