Most people start the day on a web page to get up to speed on the days news. Yet the desire for online ad revenue has produced yellow journalism. Whereby sensational headlines cause click results. The news seeker is then pulled into an endless stream of click throughs to try to reach a news story or topic that doesn't really exist. The most annoying take you to a web page with deceitfully placed Next buttons disguised among many advertisements. The hopes are that you will be tricked into clicking on an ad and missing the next button. If you are wise enough to identify the correct next button then you are sucked into that list of pages in hopes of finding the content that originally attracted your attention. After 10-25 different pages the target news story is never found. You have been duped.
Advertisement and marketing has always been slimy but this new technique takes it to the next level. Legit news channels are doing the same. It is easy to say "just don't click on those site" But I am just one person. How can we stop the madness and restore whirled peas?
