I just signed up for a marathon that will take place 7 months from now. It will be my first race of any kind in >7 years.
Back in 2009, when I stopped running competitively, I was putting up times ranging from ~15min for 5K to ~2:30 for the marathon. That was off of ~70 mpw. I was 27.
For the past several years I've run ~15 mpw just to keep from getting fat. Despite that I'm ~20 lbs above my 2009 race weight (though pretty low body fat as I'm active beyond running). I'm now 36. To guage my fitness, I just ran a 5K on a level bike path at 5000' altitude in 19:55. Marathon will be at sea level.
Given all that context, I'm looking for recommendations on a training plan to get me from where I am today to sub-3hrs in 7 months. Any suggestions?
