Are we pretending he has a secret plan to have his runners tempo every race again this year?
Unbelievably over-rated. Should've stayed at Iona with 12 scholarships for 12 foreigners and no real conference meet (just NCAA focus).
I'll get back to you after this season. Last year (both seasons) was pretty terrible. If he can turn it around, be top 2 in the B1G, and get top 15 at nationals this year, he'll be okay in my book.
He's irish. Therefore I don't like him.

I concur. Those people should stay on their miserable island.
Years ago, he turned a guy from my HS, who ran 9:40 for 3200, into a college guy who ran 3:49 for 1500. We were shocked the guy even ran in college. Even if you aren't impressed by the improvement, I assure you that somebody did a lot of work. First to even find this guy, he wasn't even #1 for his HS team in most races. Then to get him to recognize his natural event and then to get him to train for it. At that point, our HS was not exactly known for it's dedication to any sort of effort. Certainly, good work under Bryne's direction.
Another anecdote: he turned a 9:40 guy into a Big Ten Champs runner-up/14:00/29:00 guy
C'mon now, dont try to tell me that John McDonnell, Ray Treacy and Marcus O' Sullivan, have gotten the job done.
Irrelevant; we're talking about Mick Byrne

Seriously?
John McDonnell has more NCAA titles than any other coach in any other sport in College history 40 TITLES including Triple Crown an astounding 5 times.
Marcus has coached multiple top 5 guys in Cross, and turned 4:17 HS'ers into sub 4 minute guys, as well as an NCAA 5K Champ and multiple All Americans from 800 to 5K.
Multiple sub 4 guys as well.

I'm betting you got a personal issue with Ol Mick that prompted this thread. Cut you from the team, maybe?

+1.
This year is make or break for him in my opinion. He has loads of talent on his team. If they miss Nats again, I'd bring Jerry back.

He also turned a bunch of fast guys into nobodies

Fair enough.

If you aren't puking then slip in some Mad Dog (MD) 20-20 into the gatorade and you'll soon have a puke-a-rama.

What HS kid went from 4:17 to sub 4 at Nova? You have HS'ers so there must be several. I'm sure if he did the kid probably had a 1:48 half time. From what I have seen most of Nova's team arrive running the times and rarely improve much like McEntee, Mackenzie, Fitzsimmons.
The 4:22 kid I knew who went to Nova certainly didn't run 4:05 or 3:47 but he still thinks Marcus is great.
I wasn't implying anything good or bad. Its just when I read 4:17 HSer's into sub 4 guys I wasn't aware of any just wanted to see who they were. Most years Nova's top 5 X country guys are foreigners who arrive running top times. Like Tiernan & Williamz. Most of the guys are pretty developed coming in even American guys like Lampron and Malone. Sub 4:05 coming out of HS.
Had a PR of 3:36 prior to arriving at Villanova. Was a professional athlete with Nic Bideaus group and did nothing at Villanova
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
