With the track season ending Friday with the Diamond League finale in Brussels, and America turning it's attention to the NFL, this is perfectly appropriate.
Troy Aikman posted on instagram a photo of his GPS watch showing he ran 6.00 miles at 8:24 pace with a 149 average heart rate.
Details here:
He then tweeted that out with the #everyday tag.
Previously he tweeted he does 4-7 miles 5-6 days a week:

6 miles at 8:24 pace is I'm pretty sure quicker and farther than I run most days (I never wear a GPS watch and rarely a watch). Plus Aikman's got nearly 7 years and who knows how many pounds on me.
I want to have a section on LetsRun.com where we praise the running accomplishments of celebrities/sports stars like Aikman who came to running after being stars in other sports. What should we call this section/ this type of accomplishment? I'm sure you all will come up with something more wittier than I.
Good idea.
I saw this on former MLBer Eric Byrnes a little while ago. Pretty cool.

He is a typical LetsRun message boarder in that he meets at least 2 of the 3 criteria:
1. Super model wife - CHECK (in this case, girlfriend)

2. Makes more than $250,000/year - CHECK
3. Sub 14 5Ker - NOPE. Probably not even in his heyday.

I don't get it. Is this supposed to be a rag-on-Aikman thread?
It surely can't be a brag thread.
As a 49 year old 230lb fatman I held 8:21 pace for a half marathon.
Aikman sucks.
was this before or after he had another "sleepover" with Joe Buck?
Every football weekend is like another visit to brokeback mountain for those two guys (not that there's anything wrong with that).
When I was 2 years older than Aikman, I could easily run under 7:30 pace for more than 6 miles, and I am no athlete. Not impressed at all.
Why does TA hate America?
Stories like this show how impressive distance runners are. I'm happy an ex national class athlete had taken up our sport.
I'm impressed he ran 6 miles at 8:24 pace. I took it like he ran this far and maybe this pace fairly often.

Agree. Based on his heart rate he can surely go faster.
I've seen Aikman jogging on that trail numerous times. Dude is very tall and muscular. Excellent shape. He is way too top heavy to run real fast.
I talked to him the other year as we were getting a drink from the fountain the same time. He doesn't seem to do any races, just likes getting out on trail and jogging.
He was doped to the gills with steroids. His muscles are so strong he can carry that weight/frame like an Olympian.
He should do tris with that blazing speed :D
He ran a 1:48 half marathon in 2011 and a 1:49 in 2010.
At 50 I ran 2:11 for 800 and a year later sport climbed a 5.13d (first ascent). I'm only 165 lbs though (climbers will be able to guess the bodyfat), have very little money but very cute younger girlfriends.
Now at 60 most of my 40-ish miles/week are 8:00-8:45, plus lots of striders (no longer race). I'm working my first 5.14 currently.

Cool story, bro.
That is CRAZY. But I can see how top notch athletes who have been professionally trained can have the ability to keep up with that pace. Train hard enough any nothing is unreachable I suppose.
