I quit running, just like most high school runners. I'm sure I could be running low 14's by now, and make no money, no sponsors. Instead I found that XC runners have an insane pain tolerance, and that any caliber runner who gave it 100% in most of his races, can easily transition to weightlifting.

I also ran a track website, which i quit, and started working on my novel (no association to running). I still think about running a 2:09 marathon @ boston, but alas, in another lifetime. distance running is hardshit, so much sacrifice, and so (relatively) little rewards. Think about it, you put in that much work and pain in fianace, and your a millionaire, making 6 figures, or at least have wealth to take care of you, and jetski in Virgin Islands or St. thomas. I actually stopped vising letsrun for 4 years, and it was 100% better that way. Life off letsrun = an actual life.

As far as a time and energy investment, you're 100% right - running competitively is worth it to about .0001% of the world. The health benefits of running are great for people who are okay just running 40 miles a week, but obviously you can't reach your potential off of that type of training.

Running to your own potential is really only worth it if you love the actual process (you enjoy being out on the roads and trails, you get amped up for races, you like seeing long-term improvement, etc.). It sounds like you didn't have that love for running -- which isn't a bad thing, it's just your preference -- so you probably made the right choice.

That's a pretty fvckin sloppy 190 you're sitting at. Maybe you should think about picking up running again.

very weak? rofl. I didn't even list any of my bench/curl pr's. I have a fat % because I had to bulk up from 155 (aka runner status, aka skinny man in tight shorts). That only took 8-9 months. If i cut, you'd be able to see the muscles more distinctly, which I plan on doing in 4-6 weeks.

It appears your running expertise doesn't translate into general physiology. Bodybuilders don't lift for strength, they lift for hypertrophy. Strength lifters or "powerlifters" lift to be able to carry, pull, push, hold great amounts of lb/kg's, and yet they have NO muscle definition: this is because their fat covers up their muscles. I think you failed 6th grade health and science.

Your worldview is seriously in need of some retuning. Success is progress, and i'm very happy with my progress. I went from running 18:37 to 16:30 soph year to junior year. Mediocre perhaps, but percentage wise, across the scope, it was alright. See, the thing is, people who are happily climbing the ladder are so enveloped in their climb, that they don't have inclination to write loutish messages on the side of the mountain to others. I pity the person who only looks at the top tenth of 1% and see's that as the only real profit to have.
