This meet used to be one of the best in the world and part of the Golden League. It chose not to join the Diamond League and its international prestige isn't what it once was. But still a pretty good meet.

12:19? Not bad, an 18 second 5000m world record at age 41. Makes you wonder why Ryun doesn't get back to it to regain the 1500m from Hicham.
Obviously the 5k wr is soft. Too bad the supposed best --Farah-- can't run anywhere close to a wr.

In what world is the 5k wr soft? No one around right now can run sub 12:45, and very few could run sub 12:50.

12:19 is a worthy 5k WR. Today's top 5k runners are weak. So slow that 41 year old Lagat can run quite well with them.
Has Rudisha run in an awful lot of races this year?

Lol. Every random guy this year wanted to take a scalp on the king just for the kick! Haven't had much success though except at the national trials but at least they are trying unlike in the past where everyone seemed contend to let him dictate the race. Ferguson Rotich started last year and continued this year then Alfred Kipketer did it at the trials and tried at the Olympics but failed miserably. Then there are the twin tigers: Nicholas Kiplangat and Jonathan Kitilit and now 2016 world champion, Kipyegon Bett. It is a strong message to Rudisha to up his game or vacate the throne!

EPO is a helluva drug.
I love talk of "soft" world records...a soft 5k record, for example. Until a record is broken, to me it is "just" THE all-time greatest time/distance/points total EVER. Soft...hah! Holders of "soft" world records can rightfully laugh their asses off at all those "hard" asses who can't stand in their shoes...with a few exceptions, like Mo Farah, who is just a multiple Olympic and World champ.
I haven't paid attention, but it would be of no surprise if Centro's "soft" 1500m gold has set off a few of the LetsRun.com crowd who only see success in terms of time/distance/total points.
Really wish Semenya would quit sandbagging. Run a 1:48 and see what you can do. Run you use best. It isn't fair to the other competitors but as long as its legal get out there and compete. It's even more insulting to sandbag.

Most posts here about Semenya aren't serious, and I assume the same about this one. In every race of hers I've seen this year, she has won by a very large margin, including the Olympic finals. You can't expect lower times when nobody can give her serious competition.
And if she broke the world record, that would only support the argument that she has an unfair advantage, and that the rule against women competing with high testosterone levels should be reinstated, though I think it will be in any case.
