I personally wouldn't cut mileage from your easy runs. Long slow runs have a lot of benefits.
I would say that you should view morning runs as a supplement to, rather than a substitute for, the miles you run with your team. Depending on your mileage, there may be a valid reason to split your daily mileage up into two runs, but my guess is that you are not at the mileage threshold for that. Even if you are, you need to weigh the slight improvement in recovery against the cost of not being a fully integrated part of the team. Honestly, the best part of running in college for me was the banter and camaraderie on the easy runs. Don't shortchange yourself or your teammates of that.
