There once was a kid who reached top of his age in mds. Almost without training (~30k week, no hard sessions) he ran 4.10 1500m, 5.50 2000m, 2.01 800m at 14 yo. He was a head size shorter than his running buddies, had no strength and still had a great kick.
15-16yo he had bad allergies during spring training and managed to run 1.57 and 3.59. Then asthma and allergies became bad. Even tought that he got great training at spring and he could run tempo runs faster than 10k spesialists.
Then came achilles tendons, next season was over. Achilles was ok in fall but then hamstring torn. 1 year of rehab and he still ran near his pbs. (A lot of crosstraining etc) He was put on a knife next fall and hamstring was ok.
Then he got 6 months great training with some minor injuries. Near race season he was a little sick and trained. Not enough rest etc and he overtrained because he had to get to national champs relay. Season was over. 6 week rest, easy jog, nordic walking etc. and still no signs of recovery.
Should he give in or still go for his dreams?
(This kids running technique is near perfect and does regularly prerehab training)
