Hey everyone! I hope all of you had a nice training week. Looking forward to seeing the racing results from the week, because day by day we're getting to the exciting part of the season.
Here's how my week went:
M: 8.2 (7:23)
+ 10 Minute warm up (1.25)
T: 7.1 (7:42) // 30 Minute shakeout (3.6)
+ 10 Minute warm up (1.25) // Strides
W: 3 Mile race - 16:47 (5:29, 5:36, 5:40) - 2nd place - Tough course, w/ 5-6 180 degree turns, long grass, and 100 degree heat index. I'm pleased, but I know I am capable of much faster. It happens, onto the next one. The team did well, and it was a good step for the road to state.
+ 10 Minute warm up (1.25) // 1.5 Mile cool down
Th: 8.3 (7:49) // 5.1 (7:58)
+ 10 Minute warm up // Core + Calisthenics
F: 8.1 (7:58) // 4.4 (9:02) - Team scavenger hunt
+ 2.85 Mile warm up (8:15) - Planned on doing hills, but coach changed the plan throughout the day, and I didn't know until we started stretching.
S: 5.1 (7:28) // 7.1 Progressive (7:03)
Su: 10 (8:00-10)
Total: 80-81 miles
Overall it was a weird and tough week. I lifted legs on Monday for the first time in a long time, and it absolutely destroyed me from Tuesday-Thursday. I started to feel a tad better on Friday. I'm positive it made me run slower on Wednesday than I should have. I"m still pleased with the effort. Also, yesterday I woke up with a cold, and today I can barely breathe. I really need to get better though.
Next Saturday I have a big race. I'll be racing 5-6 possible all-staters, and we should all be pretty tight, so I'll see what I can manage.
Also, I want to start coaching some runners, through e-mail. If you know of anyone who wants to try out a coach through e-mail, send them my way.
