Meet tomorrow and my new spikes haven't came yet so I'm left with two options. Either wear my size in a pair of Nike Middle Distance or wear a pair of Rival XCs that are 1/2 a size too big... What is recommended?

Rival XCs.
Relax. It's the runner. Not the shoes. Reference Kipchoge's insole issue in the 2015 Berlin Marathon.
Here's what you do: Take the flimsy insole out of the Rivals that are a half size big. Replace them with the presumably slightly thicker insoles of your normal training shoes. The insole from your trainer will fill in that extra volume and also give you a familiar feel underfoot.
Run fast tomorrow and don't over scrutinize your footwear.
