World Champion at age 19. 4th in the Olympics at age 20. Will get the WR in the next 5 years and win Gold in Tokyo 2020, or fizzle out as a young phenom who didn't really improve in the marathon?

G.G. is a great marathoner, talented and very ambitious. He is still young, at least still under 30. Will he break the WR? No, he will not. Will he win gold in Tokyo in 2020? Maybe. He is just a good championship runner. To be considered a World Record holder prospect, you have to win at least some marathon majors, including London, in a dominating manner. So far with a 4th place finish at this year's London, G.G. has not shown this capability. The other East Africans especially Kenya produces at least two runners of G.G.'s caliber per year, meaning by end of next year G.G. will be outclassed.
